For Sorrows by Fableblades For Sorrows by Fableblades
"For Sorrows": www.fableblades.com/ForSorrows.html

New custom bastard sword (For Sale) and my final creation for 2016 - that's 15 swords I've made this year (and a few wands), though fewer scabbards than previous years. A year of work I will be proud to recall. Thanks for watching and I look forward to offering more cool creations in the new year, after an hopefully joyous festive season for all :-)

"For Sorrows" was an enjoyable creation. The blade was one I started for a personal project 6 months ago, though I decided to instead furnish it with an Art Nouveau theme, and feature a Native Australian Hardwood grip. The blade is a large Oakeshott Type XIIa (with simple cutaways), which I must say I was a little reluctant to part with when I saw how well it came out.

The etchings on the guard and pommel are more extravagant than any I've made before, and were a challenge as they I had to adapt hand drawn designs to the vinyl stencils via computer.

Overall the statistics are impressive for such an ornate fantasy design, at only 2lb 10 oz for a sword with a 33.3" blade and over 41" long.

I hope you all enjoy this one and I hope it will find it's way into the stocking of someone nice.
Best wishes
Brendan

This is fantastic. The matching blade and cruciform add perfect elegance to the weapon.

Beautiful execution. Looks like a challenging, fun project and the result is very easy on the eyes.

Thanks. I love Art Nouveau - can't help but notice it's influences from later Viking styles of art (Urnes / Ringerike)
